Beethoven at Home's Oboe Teachers Provide Oboe Lessons in Historic Queen Street ONTARIO Canada
Overview and History of the Oboe
The oboe is a double reed musical instrument of the woodwind family. In English prior to 1770, the instrument was called "hautbois", "hoboy", or "French hoboy". The spelling "oboe" was adopted into English ca. 1770 from the Italian oboè, a transliteration in that language's orthography of the 17th-century pronunciation of the French word hautbois, a compound word made of haut ("high, loud") and bois ("wood, woodwind"). A musician who plays the oboe is called an oboist. Careful manipulation of embouchure and air pressure allows the player to express a large range of timbre and dynamics. When to Begin Oboe Lessons
Oboe lessons can begin very early and are an excellent foundation for the study of other instruments in future. Some students have begun their studies as early as the age of 8. Whether or not this is possible is dependant on the child’s capacity to pay attention at this very early age and all children are different (ages 10-12 are more typical). No matter the age, whether young or old, the oboe is a great instrument to begin or continue one’s music education. Beethoven at Home will help you choose the right personality of oboe teacher for yourself or your child. Our local consultant will contact you and discuss your child’s personality and try to come up with a match that suits your requirements. Click Here to Get Your Oboe Lessons Started Right Now
Procuring an Instrument for Your Oboe Lessons
Most people begin by renting an instrument. This is practical at the outset as many young students might change instruments in the first year of school band etc. Our local consultant can help to arrange a rental for you. Study of the oboe will also include the manufacture of reeds at higher levels. Most advanced players prefer to make their own reeds.
