Teaching Philosophy

Music has a very special meaning in my life, so I hope it will be fun and have a special meaning in others’ lives as well. Music permeates our lives, so even if we have never learned music, we naturally find the joy of music at an early age. While learning music, you can deeply immerse yourself in the charm and joy of various musical instruments and sounds. One can see how much music actually affects one’s life by learning it. I have played the piano since I was young, and music has made me dream bigger dreams and of more experiences. I felt rewarded while teaching music theory and piano to young children in Kenya, and whilst it is a poorer educational environment, and I have gotten the dream of wanting to teach piano and music to many people. So now, I want to let various people know the diversity and delightfulness of music, and I hope music will be a source of joy in their lives. For my lessons, I will begin with physical warm-ups and I will teach the sound of the piano. Also, with the basic music theory along with the piano skills.

Musical Education

I am studying in Trinity Western University: Bachelor of Music. I have Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music: ABRSM Diploma. I started piano since 8 year-old and learned piano privately from middle school to high school. I have played many classical pieces from middle school until now. In my high school, Rosslyn Academy and in my university, TWU, I joined orchestra for musical. When I was in high school, I played keyboard 1 and 2 for three musicals. I joined one musical, that called "The Bright Star" in the university.

Special Skills and Trainings

Since my childhood, I have heard many instruments from church and school. When I was 8 years old, I attended a music academy after school, and I learned piano and basic music theory. I also experienced other instruments like the cello, drums, and guitar when I was in elementary school. From middle school, I only focused on piano and music theory, so I had private lessons and study. Before university, I got ABRSM certifications in piano and music theory. In university, I learned basic musical skills of instruments like pre-band instruments and percussion. Therefore, I have experiences with other instruments, and these experiences have given me the opportunity to teach students.

Lessons on an online platform

Yera can provide online instruction. While other platforms are possible BAH strongly recommends the use of the Zoom video conferencing platform as it is optimized for music lessons and audio quality.
