As an educator, my primary goal is to cultivate a lifelong love for music in my students. I'm particularly intrigued by the factors that ignite people's passion for playing and listening to music. My aim is to broaden my students' musical horizons, enabling them to appreciate the common threads that connect various styles of music and art in general. I aspire to create an enjoyable learning experience for every student, boosting their confidence so they can freely express themselves through music. In pursuit of this, I firmly believe in setting realistic goals and being transparent about the effort required to attain them. Since every student is unique, I welcome the opportunity to embark on a journey of growth and learning together.
I received my diploma in jazz performance on guitar and my bachelor of music composition from Capliano University in Vancouver. I was very fortunate to study with very accomplished teachers and be surrounded by incredible colleagues. Although my degree holds a jazz title, my interest as a composer has mostly been in the contemporary classical idiom.
In 2015, I was fortunate to be selected for the Highscore music festival in Pavia, Italy. I had the opportunity to have my music performed, present my compositions to peers from around the world, and attend lectures and private lessons with a highly accomplished panel of composers (Helmut Lachenmann, Dmitri Tymozcko, Amy Beth Kirsten, Mario Garuti)
In my life I have been lucky to have been exposed to a huge variety of music. As a child I got taken to big shows by my family through my stepdads position as a sound engineer. As a teen and young adult I was involved with a very tight local scene and spent most of my time practicing and playing in bands. Through all this I got to meet people from all walks of life and learned to appreciate the diversity of how music can be made. I believe that part of being a good educator is being able to relate to people and adjust your approach accordingly, and my range of experience is a huge asset in achieving that. I want people to be comfortable and believe in themselves, even if they do things a little different.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
