I firmly believe that everyone possesses an artistic spark, a unique source of creativity waiting to be explored. This spark can manifest in various forms, whether it's in music, painting, sports, craftsmanship, or entirely different pursuits. What truly sets us apart as humans is our innate ability to unleash our creativity. In my own journey of self-discovery, I've explored different avenues, including athletics, painting, and carpentry. While these endeavors may not have been my forte, they have contributed to my understanding of the diverse spectrum of human creativity. However, it is in the realm of music that I have found my true passion and where I can make a meaningful impact. Music has become the canvas through which I express my creativity and connect with others, allowing me to contribute positively to the world. I firmly believe that nurturing this creative spark in ourselves and others is a valuable endeavor. It requires encouragement, support, and the freedom to explore, allowing it to flourish in its own unique way. I've been burned before by bad teachers who try to wrangle you into a box and try to instil their opinions on you, there is nothing more of a turn-off for a young student to have a teacher like that. I had that experience when I was 8 and I stopped playing guitar for 2 years! My focus is to provide students with enough focus to improve at their craft, but enough freedom and fun that they feel inspired to come to my lessons and empower them to have agency, to pick whatever song they want to learn at the start of the lesson and for them to leave feeling proud of their accomplishment in class and inspired to continue the work to improve. There are very few things that bring me more joy than seeing something click in one of my students or seeing them gain confidence. Not just in their instrument but how that confidence reflects on their personality.
I am currently in my second year pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Music at Humber College in Toronto, specializing in guitar. My musical journey began at the age of 7 with the guitar, and I quickly developed a passion for experimenting with various instruments. For a significant part of my musical development, I was largely self-taught, drawing inspiration directly from my favorite artists and bands, ranging from Hendrix to R.E.M, Nirvana to Funkadelic, D'Angelo to the Bad Brains, and more. My unique approach to teaching is centered around ear training and the ability to learn music by listening and observing. I've been sharing my knowledge by teaching guitar to individuals of various age groups for the past 5 years. Additionally, I have experience as a recording artist and live performer. Before returning to Toronto in 2021, I resided in the U.K., where I was a member of the band Malooka. In this band, I co-wrote music, played guitar, provided vocals, handled auxiliary percussion, and arranged parts for a string quartet. We performed live shows and released an EP titled "Four in Two" in 2022. During my time in the U.K., I had the privilege of studying privately under Rhys Ling, who is currently establishing a guitar tutoring academy. This experience allowed me to consolidate my knowledge of music theory and harmony, which was previously scattered. Since enrolling at Humber, I've had the honor of being mentored by some of Toronto's renowned jazz guitarists, including Andrew Jacob Scott, Jocelyn Gould, Andrew Marzotto, and my private lesson tutor, Ben Bishop. My musical horizons have expanded significantly, encompassing not only guitar but also bass, keys, and drums. I've delved deeper into music theory than I ever anticipated, thanks to the enriching environment they foster. Throughout my time at Humber, I've remained an active participant in the vibrant Toronto music scene, frequently performing at intimate venues and engaging in jam sessions. Please let me know if you need any further information or if there's anything specific you'd like to know about my musical journey and experiences.

Getting Started Together

When You're Under the Weather
