Teaching Philosophy
I see music as a spiritual process. To me the greatest gift that music provides is to shape human consciousness in the same way a spiritual practice would. By connecting us to our spirit through the musical process we become more whole as human beings. I believe in the power of music to align mind, spirit and body. This means keeping a relaxed body, sharp mind and open spirit as we dive into the depths of the musical experience and what it can teach us about ourselves. I believe in simplicity as well as complexity. I also believe in having a wide range of musical interests and an appreciation for many different musical approaches and traditions. This way, we can come to our own sens of what we love and what we want to pursue further. My hope with teaching is to be flexible and to allow the student to follow his or her own inspiration by guiding them with a customized, structured, step by step process, marrying both right and left hemispheres to get a holistic understanding of any given topic of interest. Some of those topics include: Technique, Harmony/Chords, Scales, Arpeggios, Key centers/Tonality, Improvisation, Transcription, Ear training, Songwriting and more. I trust in surrender and connection to the spirit of Music!
Musical Education
I have a DEC from Collège D'Alma in guitar jazz/pop which also included theory, solfège, musical literature and choral classes. My musical education however starts earlier than that with private lessons at the age of 12.
Awards and Distinctions
I have won price of the jury for Cégep En Spectacle when I was in college by playing some of my compositions with two very dear friends of mine.
Special Skills and Trainings
I have experience with music production as I have composed, recorded and mixed an entire album over the last 2 years. I have a deep appreciation for the importance of self-expression through composition and songwriting.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:
Tristan is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Our Promise to You
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
