With a strong educational background including RCM 10 exams in piano, violin, and theory with First Class Honours with Distinction, and currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music (Honours) at the Glenn Gould School, Tatyana brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her teaching. Available for online and in-home lessons, she also provides ear training, music history, and various levels of music theory, ensuring a comprehensive musical education for her students.
I believe that studying music is beneficial to development in every way. Music allows for creative and artistic growth, as well as an increase in diligence, focus, and sense of accomplishment. With my teaching, I strive to help my students find joy in their music making, all while developing proper technique and practice habits that will serve them well in the future. I also recognize that the process of learning music is one that is unique to each person , which is why my lessons are tailored to meet the learning style of every student.
I have studied violin and piano simultaneously through the RCM program from a young age, and I was a student at the Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary. During my studies in Calgary, I completed my RCM 10 exam in piano, violin, and theory, all with First Class Honours with Distinction. I studied at McGill’s Schulich School of Music for my first year of undergrad in Violin Performance, and have since transferred to the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory where I will be completing the rest of my Bachelor of Music (Honours).
In violin, I have had success in local, provincial, and national level competitions. I’ve won and placed in competitions such as the Canadian Music Competition, the Canada West Performing Arts Festival, and the Calgary Performing Arts Festival. I have also been awarded various scholarships for music, including the Alberta Music Education Foundation Student Recognition Award. In piano, I have participated in many festivals and invited to play at gala concerts, such as the APTA Calgary (Alberta Piano Teachers Association) Gala Concert.
I am a passionate teacher with professional experience in teaching students of all ages, abilities, and levels. Many of my students had great success in their RCM exams, and I am also familiar with the Faber and Suzuki methods. I am known to be a patient, gentle, and positive teacher who will push you to do your very best!

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
