I believe every student can learn and improve their skills in music. My job as a teacher is to encourage the student as well as teach basic musicianship. Music is an art and a skill. In fact, music is many skills that need to happen at once. We all have rhythm, and we all have musical talent inside of us. I love music or I would not be here. I have travelled across the US performing. I have performed with many small ensembles. Music is meant to share as well as to bless people. When I teach, I focus on the essential skills of music. I also help the students focus within themselves to find the passion. I understand that the students will not like every song they play. They don't have to. I don't like every song I play. Each song has a lesson. It may be to introduce a new rhythm or style. It is a steppingstone on the path of where the student wants to go. I am here to guide that journey. I guide the journey by giving the student respect and challenges along the way.
I attended Canadian University College in Lacombe, AB. I have a Bachelor of Education with a Music Specialization and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. My first practical subject area was Violin and for the BA it was flute. My second practical subject was piano. I toured the US three times performing with my University Band performing Clarinet and Flute. I was in the Red Deer Youth Orchestra for many years until I joined the College Orchestra playing violin first and then viola. I have been trained in Suzuki , Orff and Music for Young Children. My teaching style is a combination of all 3.
I performed at Disneyland.
I spent my childhood listening to my Dad playing his different instruments and singing. He was always so encouraging and was my first teacher. My parents enrolled me in private music lessons when I was in grade one and I continued to love it. I have taught band, orchestra, choir, and elementary music. I have taken Suzuki teacher training, Orff Teacher Training, Kodaly Teacher Training, and Music For Young Children Teacher Training. I prefer a mixture of the methods. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Education with a Music Specialization. I like to teach group lessons as well as private lessons and I am looking forward to meeting you and helping you learn.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
