My goal is to get the most out of each student. In this way, I see myself as a coach and a teacher. Every pupil is unique, and has had a unique life experience. I try to cater my lessons to whatever my student needs. I believe in a well rounded music education. Learning the instrument and songs is important, but also theory, writing, history, and appreciation. Knowing the context of music is important to learning the importance of any aspect of it. I teach students of all ages. There are certain benefits to starting young yes, but most people have had music in their life in one way or another since they were a child if they know it or not. Even if it is just 70's tv show themes, I can find a way to relate their current knowledge with the lesson of the day.
I am mainly a self-taught musician. I did take classes in theory and performed in school, but most of my knowledge I obtained by my intense curiosity and looking for experiences. I have played guitar in multiple bands and have played countless shows up and down the East Coast. I have performed in rock and jazz bands and in pit orchestra. For the last 8 years I have also been teaching music. I have had dozens of students and love to see them grow as musicians.
Not only do I have experience as a performing musician, I have recorded music as both the performer and the engineer. I understand how to manipulate the sounds the instrument make as well as how your ear hears it. I believe I can offer unique insights because of this knowledge.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
