Teaching Philosophy

I am a firm believer in the Suzuki Philosophy, guided by the principle of "Every Child Can!" - a powerful statement from Suzuki's literature that resonates deeply with me and, I believe, will resonate with your child as well. As a music teacher, I am dedicated to tailoring each student's musical journey to align with their personal life goals, particularly focusing on their aspirations in cello playing. Ultimately, we are all human beings driven by a shared desire for inspiration through music. Throughout my teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with students ranging from the tender age of 4 to the seasoned age of 64, creating a comfortable and inclusive environment for learners of all ages. Witnessing my students flourish and grow, embracing their unique potential and transforming into the musicians they aspire to be, is a truly gratifying experience that brings me immense joy.

Musical Education

I hold a Master's degree in cello performance from the esteemed Cleveland Institute of Music, an institution that provided me with comprehensive training in Suzuki Pedagogy. During my time there, I actively engaged with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), further deepening my understanding and commitment to this pedagogical approach.

Special Skills and Trainings

When a student comes to me with their cello as the very first instrument in hand, I know they will need a lot more help than just cello to learn about music. Unlike piano, cello isn't the easiest instrument to introduce to beginners. Hence, I always prepare extra materials to supplement their musical knowledge. Sometimes I play notes for the intonation on the piano, and sometimes we learn from other books ( ABRSM/RCM). Overall, I like providing comprehensive trainings ( theory, music dictation) to my students from one point in their learning journey.

Lessons on an online platform

Peggy can provide online instruction. While other platforms are possible BAH strongly recommends the use of the Zoom video conferencing platform as it is optimized for music lessons and audio quality.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
