As a prospective music teacher, my teaching philosophy centers around two fundamental aspects: methods and motivations. I believe in employing versatile teaching methods that cater to diverse learning styles, nurturing a stimulating and inclusive environment that encourages students to explore and express themselves through music. Firstly, in terms of methods, I strive to create a well-rounded curriculum that incorporates both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. By combining music theory, history, and ear training with instrumental or vocal instruction, I aim to provide a comprehensive musical foundation for my students. Additionally, I recognize the importance of integrating technology and contemporary resources to enhance engagement and enable students to explore music in innovative ways. Moreover, I value individualized instruction and tailor my teaching approach to suit the unique strengths and needs of each student. By recognizing their diverse learning styles, I can adapt my methods to foster their musical growth and instill a sense of accomplishment. I encourage collaborative learning experiences, ensemble playing, and performance opportunities, as they promote teamwork, communication, and self-confidence. Secondly, motivations play a vital role in my teaching philosophy. I believe in inspiring students to develop a lifelong love and appreciation for music. I aim to foster their curiosity, creativity, and passion by exposing them to a wide range of musical genres, historical periods, and cultural traditions. By helping them connect emotionally with music and find personal meaning in their musical journey, I hope to ignite a lasting motivation to explore and excel in their musical pursuits. Furthermore, I strive to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where students feel safe to take risks, express themselves, and develop their own artistic voice. I aim to be a supportive mentor, providing constructive feedback, encouragement, and guidance. By cultivating a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere, I aspire to empower my students, boost their self-esteem, and foster a sense of belonging within the musical community.
I am currently enrolled in Specialized Honours BA in Jazz Music Performance at York University. I have been studying the piano since the age of eight through school, private lessons, and personal training. I have been studying the saxophone since the age of 12 though school, private lessons, and personal training as well. My teachers were Jazz trained and have studied at many rewound institutes such as The Juilliard School, University of Toronto, Queens University, York University, The Royal Conservatory of Music, and Brandon University. The training I underwent through the years have been rigorous and detailed. Entailing several techniques exploring outside of my comfort zone. I have been able to experience the classical side of things where I implant Solfege into my learning and how it can impact Jazz. I am also able to use what I have learnt while being in the Jazz Orchestra and R&B ensemble at York University. I am currently in these ensembles and plan to continue to be in them throughout university for my personal growth.
I have won: Gold for Big Band Jazz at the Humber Jazz Festival, Gold for Small Jazz Ensemble at the Humber Jazz Festival, PTF PSSMTA - Janice WilsonMusic Scholarship through the Peel District School Board, and the PTF PSSMTA - C. Lloyd DobsonMusic Scholarship through the Peel District School Board
Since I was a child, I grew up with music. My father has been an educator for over 30 years and watching him grow in his institution while being able to teach me music has inspired me to do the same for others. Most of my training has been with amazing instructors and personal training at home. I have had the opportunity to teach several students from different elementary school and high schools ranging from theory, to practical, to the history of their instrument and music as a whole. These experiences have enriched me as a teacher, a musicians, and an overall person as I aspire to become an educator for the rest of my life.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
