I simply feel that music is to be "played" ! As your teacher I wish you to enjoy playing as much as possible, and it is through "PLAY" that we will fuel our learning of, and passion for, music.
I began playing drums in the 1970's and my family could not afford lessons. So my education largely consisted of what I received in my excellent high school band program. Not only did we learn how to read music, we also learned how simply fabulous it was to "play" . Since then I have read, and read, and read, and played, and played, and played, through a multitude of technique books to help me execute the sounds I wanted to create with percussion instruments. Whether that be a drum kit, a djembe, the congas, or a washboard.
I have been a performer/clinician for over 35 years. For over 30 of those years I was an accompanist for dance classes at Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet and at Tulsa Ballet's Centre for Dance Education. I have been in hundreds of classroom as a clinician teaching K-6 students how composers compose, in my workshop called Oh Those Drums! In this clinic we create orchestras made out of junk and then compose and perform music as a group. For over 25 years I have performed across Canada as Mr Mark creating wild and crazy music for families to sing and dance to. As Mr Mark I have played countless music festivals across Canada and worked and composed for several Symphony Orchestras as well. I would love to share all of my experience with you!

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
