Teaching Philosophy
Music is able to transcend every aspect of our life, and private violin lessons are about more than learning music. Being a part of your child's growth and development is a gift. I endeavour to create a collaborative environment where the student moves at the pace they set. Every lesson is tailored to their individual needs and goals we set. As a teacher, I was the director and curriculum developer of the violin program at Arts 4 All Kids, the senior and intermediate instructor at El Sistema South London, and the Twinkle and Suzuki Book 1 teacher at the Forest City School for Talent Education. My pedagogy is based on the methods of Suzuki, RCM, Kato Havas, Paul Kantor, and Mimi Zweig. I have completed pedagogy courses and advanced studies in all the aforementioned at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Suzuki Institute. I have personally completed RCM examinations in theory and performance.
Musical Education
Throughout my life, I have loved music and the brain. I have been able to study with some amazing teachers and musicians that have shaped who I am today. I am a hard worker and I have had the privilege to pursue my love of knowledge through higher education. The longer, more professional version is below! I hold a Bachelors Degree in Violin Performance with a minor in Psychology and a diploma in Chamber Music Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, studying with the Penderecki String Quartet. I also began a Masters of Violin Performance and Literature at Western University. Currently, I am completing a Masters in Science studying the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental health. I have studied with members of the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and Montreal Symphony Orchestra, as well as members of the Penderecki, New Orford, Chiara, and Lafayette string quartets and Duo Concertante.
Special Skills and Trainings
I began playing the violin at the age of 3, and yes, I still have my tiny violin! I have had the pleasure of playing in ensembles and orchestras across Canada, from BC to Newfoundland, as well as in Bulgaria, Italy, and Germany. I have been a section leader of many orchestras, most notably as the Principal Second violin of the German-Scandinavian Youth Orchestra in Berlin, Germany, and Concertmaster of Mediterranean Opera Orchestra in Sicily, Italy. I was the Principal Second violin of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra for four seasons, and recently joined the first violin section of the International Symphony. I also regularly play with London Symphonia.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:

- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
