To me the act of making and learning music is a deeply profound and personal experience that I would like to share with as many people as possible. As a teacher it is my constant goal to create a sense of safety, inclusion, and connection with each of my students throughout the learning process. Every student has their own unique experience and I believe that through authentic practice and listening anyone has the potential to become a great musician. I use a mix of Alexander technique and modern pedagogy in my lessons and it is my goal to get students to explore the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of themselves and music by engaging with creativity, compassion, courage, kindness, laughter, and gratitude. With each student I am committed to the process of their growth, not just the outcome, and by creating a friendly and supportive environment that meets their needs and interests. I hope to help you become an outstanding musician!
I have a Bachelor of Music in Integrated Studies (with Distinction) from the University of Calgary where my main fields of study were flute performance and wind band conducting. I began my flute studies at twelve years old and soon joined the marching bands of Calgary where I was a member of the Calgary Round-up band, Stetson Showband, and Calgary Stampede Showband. It was through these programs that I was inspired to study music professionally and began private lessons with Gwen Klassen of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and Pender Island Flute Retreat. Gwen's holistic approach to music and work with other renown flautists like William Bennet and Lorna McGhee resulted in a welcoming learning space that encouraged a willingness to experiment, to fail, and a healthy pursuit of mastery that I hope to pass on to my students. I am currently a student in the RCM Advanced Performance Program and have worked as a flute clinician in southern Alberta since fall of 2021. I have also held positions such as; First Chair of the Calgary Youth Orchestra and University of Calgary Wind Ensemble, Assistant Conductor of the University of Calgary Symphonic Band, and Resident Conductor of the Spiritus Chamber Choir.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
