Music is a fundamental part of the human condition. It speaks to us physically, emotionally, and spiritually and has lasting, transformative effects. I believe in the whole musician. The cause of a wrong note could be anything from anxiety to poor posture to the lack of an emotional connection to your song. I will tailor each lesson to what WE believe is best for you, as a musician and a person.
I have a BM from Ithaca College where I studied voice both scientifically and in practice through speech pathology and neuro-psychology classes. I have additionally studied the voice through the lense of conservatory training in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance. I additionally hold a master's degree from the University of Durham in the UK in Music Cognition research. My voice training focused on vocal mechanics, studied through musical theatre, folk, and the classical styles. Additionally, I have been a voice teacher and music director for a theatre company for the past 5 years.
I have worked extensively to understand the whole musician. I hold a Professional Performance Certificate in Music Education from Penn State University where I studied the way we learn music across the lifespan. I also hold a certificate in Trans/NB Vocal Pedagogy which I have used extensively in my studio. I have also worked in all aspects of theatre production, from makeup to sound design. My experiences have been instrumental in my teaching of music and the arts as a whole.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
