Teaching Philosophy

I believe that everyone can learn music. Each person brings their own unique voice and perspective, and as a teacher, my role is to guide students toward awareness of their own musical and artistic capabilities. Music should be both beautiful and fun, and I always seek creative ways to help my students find joy and meaning in their playing. I approach teaching as a continuous journey—not just for my students, but for myself as well. I think it is essential for a teacher to constantly study, listen, observe, and learn from each student. This ongoing process helps me grow and improve as an educator. I also love to conduct research into the most advanced teaching methods so that I can bring new ideas and fresh perspectives into my lessons. My goal is to inspire the same curiosity and constant striving for improvement in my students—not just to pass on knowledge, but to encourage a lifelong passion for learning and self-discovery. Every student is unique and has their own way of learning and playing music. I tailor my approach to respect and nurture these individual differences. I view music education not as a destination but as an ongoing process—a journey where every step builds confidence, creativity, and deeper understanding. In this journey, mistakes are part of learning, and growth happens through exploration and experimentation. I want to create an environment where students feel safe to take risks and express themselves authentically. As someone who has ADHD myself, I understand firsthand the importance of adapting teaching methods to different learning styles. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent students and those with special needs, always maintaining open communication with families to ensure each student receives the support they need. My doctoral research focuses on using imagery, storytelling, and emotional connections to help students relate more deeply to music. I believe these extramusical associations can unlock creativity and expression in ways that purely technical instruction cannot. Ultimately, I want my students to feel empowered, inspired, and excited about their musical path, knowing that their abilities are always evolving. Teaching for me is about connection, patience, and joy—helping each person unlock their potential and share their unique voice with confidence.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
