Music has been such an important part of my life. It has helped me cope with a lot of difficulties in my life. But playing, singing, and even just listening to music has time and time again, filled me with so much hope and unending joy. As Bob Marley once said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” that’s how I feel when I sit by my instrument and play my heart out. In my classes, I strive to make my students comfortable at the learning place, and help them discover their own personal artistic style while still learning excellent technique and skills. I will be there to support you every step of the way and make learning enjoyable, as much as possible. To me three important key elements would be punctuality, discipline and dedication. If you have these three, there’s no stopping you! Whether you’re a young or an older student- you can expect the same from me in terms of my approach in teaching and communicating. Let’s make music together and grow to become better musicians and singers! :)
I have had the privilege of studying with 9 music teachers from all around the world. I grew up in Dubai and started studying Piano since the age of 7. I have learned so much since then. I received a Merit in all of my theory exams with ABRSM, up to Grade 6. I have also completed Piano performances up to grade 8, in ABRSM, which is equivalent to RCM Grade 10. Studying at UPEI has enabled me to learn violin under great professors and hone my skills. I am currently in my fourth year of my bachelor of music program, at UPEI and I will be graduating In 2025. I may be young but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a wealth of knowledge to bring to the table. My teachers have studied from universities in the UK, Russia, Poland, USA and Cuba so it’s been a blessing to have knowledge imparted to me from these teachers who’ve had experience from various places. I have also been part of the UPEI choir for 4 years, directed by the well-reputed Sung ha-Shin Bouey. I have had voice lessons under her for 2.5 years and I am so ready to impart the skills, tricks and voice exercises I have learned from her to improve your vocal abilities. Lastly, Theory, Composition and Conducting are other skills I am very passionate about and have had the privilege of studying. I’m also open to teaching if that is something that resonates with you and would like to study further.
I don’t tend to participate in a lot of music competitions, but whatever I did take part in, I did pretty well: In March 2021, I took part in the 6th Gulf International Chopin Competition in Kuwait, and received first prize in the Piano Advanced category. In Jan 2022, I took part in the Frances Gray competition and got shortlisted and made it to Top 5 and was the only pianist among other musicians to make it to the list.
I grew up in a musical family. my dad has been my number one inspiration in music and he taught me to be musical and grow in my talents and skills. I have been able to learn from so many different teachers/professors and each one of them has shaped me into the musician that I am today. I have also had the opportunity to watch some of the greatest orchestras and musicians like "The London Symphony Orchestra” and “Chick Corea” live, which has been one of the loveliest experiences of all time. Other than western classical music, I have also had class Indian vocal training known as Hindustani classical music, which has truly opened up and added richness and depth to my voice. Aside from Piano and Voice, I have also studied theatre and learned how to act and communicate expressively through my voice and actions. I have also taken composition and song-writing courses which helped me to tap into a technically challenging field, but it helped me to creatively think and write down real time, organic thoughts.
