Teaching Philosophy

I am a positive and energetic teacher! With my dance background, I incorporate the whole body into singing and text expression. While giving helpful feedback and critique, I love to cheer my students on and bring joy to our lessons. My teacher once told me, "A sad bird doesn't sing." I've kept that quote close to my heart and make sure to keep a positive learning environment.

Musical Education

I have a Bachelor of Music in Voice and Opera Performance and Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Northwestern University. During my time at Northwestern, I was a part of Renaissance Singers, contemporary choirs, and operas. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Music in Voice and Opera Performance from McGill University. This past semester, I took Advanced Vocal Pedagogy and was able to do a teaching practicum to get feedback on my own teaching. I have performed in 6 operas, 10 musicals, and over a dozen dance productions! I have also instructed students in Western classical, musical theater, jazz, and pop singing. I also played concert and marching percussion throughout high school and my undergraduate degree.

Special Skills and Trainings

I have studied dance for my undergraduate degree, delving into ballet, modern, jazz, musical theater, and improvisation. These various genres of dance have allowed me to experience various genres of music and listen to music in a different way. I also have a strong feeling for rhythm and pulse with my extensive percussion background. These aspects of my life have shaped how I perform, practice, teach, and enjoy music.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
