Teaching Philosophy

In my teaching philosophy, I believe in providing comprehensive piano instruction to students of all levels. While I am capable of teaching beginners, I find great joy in working with intermediate and advanced students. Drawing from my experience, I am well-versed in utilizing diverse teaching methods and approaches to cater to each student's unique needs. I understand the importance of considering factors such as natural posture, hand size, and individual abilities when tailoring my instruction. During our conversations, we can delve into specific books, methods, and repertoire selection to ensure a personalized and enriching learning experience. My ultimate goal is to foster a deep appreciation for music and help students reach their full potential as pianists. For children::::::In my teaching philosophy for children's piano lessons, I prioritize the involvement of their family members. Recognizing the significant role that family plays in a child's musical development, I encourage one family member to attend each class, actively listening and learning alongside the child. This ensures continuity and support in their practice at home. Teaching children is a responsibility I take seriously, as it lays the foundation for their future musical journey. By fostering a rich understanding of music and nurturing their artistic abilities, we can shape their lives with a deep appreciation for music. Conversely, neglecting this responsibility may result in a limited understanding of music, leading to a preference for low-level pop music. My goal is to empower children with a strong musical foundation, enabling them to become well-rounded and discerning listeners.

Musical Education

Although I did not pursue formal music education at university, I have been immersed in the world of music since the age of 4 through private lessons. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to studying various aspects of music, including piano performance, music theory, composition techniques, and both acoustic and electronic composition. Currently, I am actively engaged as a piano teacher, classical piano performer, and contemporary composer. My diverse background and practical experience in these areas have shaped my comprehensive understanding of music and allow me to bring a well-rounded perspective to my teaching and artistic endeavors.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
