Teaching Philosophy

Music is all around us, and we all have our own innate ability to feel, express and channel this energy through our instruments to create magic! Studying music harnesses skills in numerous different avenues such as creativity, multitasking, self expression, confidence, time management, discipline, team work, all of which can be used in your day to day, and other facets of life/career. Music is something I am extremely pationate about and would love to share that with others! My goal as a teacher is to best help and support my student learn and grow, but most importantly, enjoy that journey! This entails a thorough and effective teaching method that gives the student the tools to continue practicing at home as well as in my studio. Scales, warmups and technique always have to balance out learning new repertoire and are essential in setting down a good foundation to flourish !

Musical Education

I have an honours with distinction BA in Fine Arts from Concordia University where music was a key focus in my artistic practice and studies. I studied both piano and cello from the age of 5 until the age of 17. Both of my professors were classically trained professional musicians, who were both educators at post secondary institutions. I was studying in their studios and playing with other University level musicians in orchestras and chamber ensembles from the age of 13. During the summers I would audition and take part in International music institutions such as Domaine Forget in Quebec where I studied with world class musicians privately and also played in quartets and orchestras. Along side the performance studies I studied music theory, history and harmony.

Special Skills and Trainings

I spent my early childhood learning Suzuki methods and later transitioned into RCM were I obtained my Grade 10 cello, Grade 8 piano and intermediate Harmony certificates. Having learned through both of these schools of teaching I believe I have a very well rounded approach. I have also actively participated and received numerous trophies, scholarships and awards from the Kiwanis Music Festival, Woodstock Rotary Festival and the Ontario Music Festivals Association. Through my experiences in competitions across Canada, I have had the privilege of receiving feedback and participating in masterclasses with world renowned musicians, giving me knowledge in multiple ways to approach teaching and coaching.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
