Teaching Philosophy

"Teach by example and encourage to practice." My goal as a teacher is to perpetuate knowledge and inspire learning; more specifically, as a violin teacher, I introduce students to various techniques and repertoire to help them develop a unique voice. Being euphoric, passionate, and driven are essential elements of successful learning at any age, and I can ensure that all my students will learn without undue stress and frustration. I believe the best lessons are conducted in a flexible manner of instruction and responsive to the unique environment of a given class (whether online or in-person). I am cognizant of students' individual experiences and temperaments in hopes of developing their strengths and ameliorating their weaknesses. I believe every student, regardless of background or age, can develop and improve their ability to listen to music, understand the mechanism of the violin, and interpret a piece of music independently with proper guidance. Most importantly, the body of a musician is tantamount to that of an athlete; before playing your instrument, it is vital to perform an exhaustive warm-up to support the specific musculature required in the development of violin playing.

Musical Education

I studied both piano and violin from the age of six. My teachers were all professional musicians performing internationally, some of which include (Axel Strauss, Grigory Kaliovsky, Simin Ganatra (Pacifica Quartet), and others). In addition to my studies, I have also performed in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall (New York), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Maison Symphonique (Montreal), Roy Thompson Hall (Toronto), Hong Kong Cultural Center, and Pollack Hall (McGill University), etc. In the last year of my Master's studies at McGill, I won a coveted violin section position with the Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec. I also had the opportunity to do recordings with Steve Epstein (a grammy winning sound engineer). I look forward to sharing my expertise with you and passing on what I have learned throughout my life experience and college life.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
