Jennifer is a passionate music teacher offering lessons in guitar, piano, singer-songwriter, ukulele, and voice for students from the age of 6 to adults. With a studio in Surrey, she's dedicated to pushing students beyond their limits and fostering a deep appreciation for music. Jennifer's lessons are available online or in her studio, making her accessible to a wide range of students. Her approach emphasizes not just technical skill, but also the joy and challenge of musical expression across various styles.
Throughout my years as a teacher, I learned many different styles of music and have instilled my love for it in my students of all ages for over ten years. My teaching philosophy is to encourage students to push past their limitations, improve instrument performance and to be motivated to have a deeper understanding and appreciation of this amazing art form. I encourage students to learn music that they connect with while at the same time improving their technique and capability of meeting any musical goals that they might be excited to achieve. Music has been my joy in life and I intend to show students that whatever age you are, learning an instrument is exciting. Whether your style is pop, jazz or Classical, it is both enjoyable and a challenge and I will show you in lessons that I will be there to guide and support students in whatever their journey may be.
I started taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and enrolled in the Royal Conservatory of Music where I eventually graduated and obtained my ARCT (Associate of the Royal Conservatory) diploma in Piano Performance with Honors and Advanced Theory Certificate. Along with piano, I found my love of singing at a young age and studied Voice for eight years with two teachers that were both classically trained, later participating in the Kiwanis Music Festival and being awarded a Gold for my performance in the Broadway category. I also was instructed in guitar and ukulele along the way and studied styles such as fingerstyle, pop and classical by my instructor who taught classical guitar full time. As well as teaching, I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Counselling at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
I have won a Silver Certificate awarded for Level 10 Piano Classical and 21st Century Repertoire and a Gold Certificate awarded for Adult Broadway Voice category at the Kiwanis Music Festival.
I spent my childhood constantly exposed to music and was always asked to perform at weddings, funerals and Birthday parties so I have plenty of performing experience. I also have conducted my own recitals, composed my own melodies and songs and have over 10 years of teaching online and in person. Along with proficiency in 4 instruments, I also teach group and individual group classes such as musical theory.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
