Teaching Philosophy

Music plays a very important role in my life, and I believe it plays a huge role in our day-to-day lives. Learning music helps us identify rhythms and pitches, and stimulates the brain as we play different notes, and dynamics with both hands. The skills acquired in music can further influence the activities we do daily, and also stimulate our imagination, helping everyone to think outside the box. Through the support of guided lessons, everyone can further expand their knowledge on music through play challenging scales and pieces. With learning, joy and play are important aspects to consider. I make sure to create a safe learning environment for students to help students perceive music as joyful, and interesting. By understanding the student's learning needs I make sure to develop the lesson plan according to their learning style, and work with the student to make goals in further advancing skills in playing the piano.

Musical Education

I have studied piano from the age of five until the age of nineteen. I am trained in classical music after completing the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) training and examinations from prepatory to Level 10 practical and theory concepts. I have experience in performing classical pieces in concerts and received the Davenport music scholarship in 2010. I have also, been a pianist at my church for 5 years on the worship team. and have experience training students playing in worship teams, and collaborating with other music instrument players.

Special Skills and Trainings

In church, I enjoyed watching our pianist play the piano during worship sessions, which inspired me to start learning the piano. With my training in the Royal Conservatory program, I was able to gain a vast amount of knowledge and skills in classical music that I have integrated into my role as a piano player at our church. These experiences have supported me to become the pianist, performer, and teacher that I am today.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
