I believe music goes beyond being a mere subject; it is a profound expression of human emotion and creativity. Music has the ability to convey feelings that words alone often struggle to express, acting as a universal language that brings people together and fosters unity and understanding. Apart from its cultural and social impact, music plays a crucial role in individual development. Learning to play an instrument or participating in musical activities enhances cognitive skills, instills discipline, and nurtures patience. Furthermore, the emotional outlet that music provides can be therapeutic, offering solace and inspiration in both joyful and challenging times. In essence, music is an integral part of the human experience, enriching our lives well beyond the notes on a page or the melody in the air. As a music teacher, guiding others on their musical journey brings me immense joy, recognizing the profound impact it can have on personal growth and the broader human connection.

From my first encounter with the violin during a music class in kindergarten, I found myself captivated by this instrument. It was in that moment of serendipity that my love for the violin blossomed, setting me on the path of music. The opportunity to explore this enchanting instrument not only ignited a passion within me but also marked the beginning of my musical journey. As I embraced the violin, each stroke of the bow and every delicate pluck of the strings became a form of expression. The resonance of the instrument seemed to echo with my own emotions, creating a unique connection that went beyond the mere act of playing. It was through this musical exploration that I discovered the profound language of notes and melodies, allowing me to communicate emotions in a way words never could. During my time studying at UA, I encountered a mentor who would profoundly shape my life – Prof. Hongmei Xiao. Recognizing my potential in the viola, she suggested that I embark on a journey to study this instrument with her. This marked a turning point in my musical career, unveiling a more vibrant and diverse spectrum within the realm of music that extended beyond the familiar territory of the violin. Under Hongmei Xiao's guidance, my musical endeavors took on a new depth and richness. Exploring the intricacies of the viola introduced me to a world of nuanced tones and expressive possibilities, allowing me to discover beauty in a different musical landscape. Her mentorship not only honed my skills but also broadened my musical horizons, fostering a deeper appreciation for the diverse voices that each instrument brings to the ensemble. As I delved into the realm of the viola, my musical journey became a tapestry of experiences that transcended the boundaries of a single instrument. I realized that the beauty of music lies not only in the instrument itself but in the endless possibilities of expression and connection it offers. Thanks to Hongmei Xiao's guidance, my musical narrative unfolded into a more captivating and enriched storyline, proving that sometimes a change in perspective can open doors to unexplored musical wonders.
