Hanna is a dynamic music teacher specializing in singer-songwriter and voice lessons. She offers both online lessons and in-studio lessons in Duncan. With a background in classical voice technique and a Bachelor's in Communication Studies with a Minor in Music from Concordia University, Hanna has over 10 years of training. Her teaching philosophy is centered on creating a safe space for music-making, emphasizing play, movement, and improvisation. Hanna believes in nurturing students' curiosities and inclinations, making music accessible to everyone regardless of their experience level.
I believe it is everyone’s birthright to sing and express themselves with music! With passion and permission, I aim for creating a safe-enough space to share the joy of music-making that I believe is available to everyone. When working with children and youth, my approach is to let the child or youth lead and to nurture their innate curiosities and inclinations. With all ages, I centre healthy, gentle breath and vocal technique in addition to play, movement and improvisation! By emphasizing play, my experience is children and youth (as well as adults) become much more available to technical aspects of music-making. When teaching, I will also sometimes bring in instruments like piano, guitar and percussion to support the student’s learning process.
As a youth, I studied classical voice technique and dedicated many years to performing as a singer, dancer and actor. From 2015-2016, I attended the Victoria Conservatory of Music in the Diploma in Music Performance Program, specializing in Classical and Contemporary Voice. Subsequently, I continued my studies in Montréal at Concordia University with my BA in Communication Studies and a Minor in Music, where I focussed on sound production. Overall, I have over 10+ years of training in classical voice technique! I've had a variety of teachers in different musical styles over the years including Kathleen Brett, Ingrid Attrot, Louise Rose (D.F.A), Dr. Irene Feher (D. Mus), and Vancouver-based soprano Raphael Wagner. I've written, composed and co-produced a self-released album, and consistently perform with my shared musical project, Emergence, and as a solo singer/songwriter.
Encore! Women's Choir Mentorship Student Awardee (2014-2015). Royal Conservatory of Music Gold Medal Recipient in Grade 3 Voice (2012).
I have extensive experience working with children and youth ages 3 to 17 years as a Voice, Beginner Piano & Musical Theatre Teacher individually and in groups. My teaching pedagogy is also informed by my work with Music for People, an organization that uses improvisation as a tool to help music-making become more accessible to people with little to no musical experience. I have also completed the Dance Your Ability Facilitator Training, and integrate many movement-based tools into my teaching practice.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
