Teaching Philosophy

I believe that anyone has the ability to create amazing pieces of music with the right training and motivation. As a teacher, I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where students, whether an absolute beginner or intermediate, feel comfortable expressing themselves while improving their playing. I am passionate about instilling a love of music in my students and helping them develop the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential. Through a combination of patient guidance, constructive feedback and a focus on the individual needs and strengths of each student, I aim to create a positive and empowering learning experience that will stay with them for years to come.

Musical Education

I currently hold an RCM level 10 certificate and am studying at York University for a BA Music degree while pursuing an ARCT certificate. I have studied piano privately since the age of 7 and will continue to further my education at an advanced level. My teachers have completed University at a Master's level and ARCT which gives them great credibility in teaching and performance. I have also studied with Christina Petrowska Quilico, one of Canada's most celebrated pianists at York University and her expertise has given me a much greater acumen for teaching and musicianship alike.

Special Skills and Trainings

I have spent the majority of my childhood practicing the piano while taking extensive music theory and dance lessons. Through my experience as a volunteer dance instructor for child daycare, I have immersed myself with effective methods of working with younger children and gained teaching experience. The kids always looked forward to their next dance lesson as I created a fun and enjoyable environment to familiarize them with dancing. Currently, I have completed the RCM level 10 Harmony and Counterpoint theory certificate along with the RCM level 10 practical certificate. I have also performed numerous piano recitals and placed 3rd in the Mandarin Lion Arts Festival piano competition.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
