"If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, The appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again! it had a dying fall: O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound, That breathes upon a bank of violets, Stealing and giving odour!" ...Duke Orsino's reaction to music in "Twelfth Night." This monologue encapsulates how evocative music can be, that it can stir up certain emotional responses in the heart of the listener and in fact the performer; it's life-changing. When my students, regardless of their age, manage to attain this in their performance delivery with the proper application of techniques, then my work is gratifying.
I have an honours bachelor of music degree in Vocal Performance (Tenor) from Dalhousie University. My teachers are classically trained teachers and I had studied singing with 2 voice professors-first a baritone and then a soprano-during my 4 years of studies at the university. Prior to studying at Dalhousie, I had completed a 2 years diploma in music from the MUSON Diploma School of Music and have certifications in singing, music theory, advanced choral singing, practical musicianship, and piano with the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), London UK. I have also had the professional experience of attending festivals and international competitions with choirs which has given a lot of experience to direct and train choirs.
Winner of the FGS award at the Harmonised Scholarship Competition James and Abbie Campbell graduation prize for best graduating student Golden Keys International Honours Society prize and recognition for academic excellence Akintola Williams prize for best graduating student Banke Ademola prize for best Bel canto singer Award and prize for winning the MUSON National Music Quest Youth competition
I spent most of my post-secondary school years and early twenties to professional music exams, mostly the ABRSM where I received non-degree certifications in singing, music theory, practical musicianship, piano, and advanced choral singing. I took a number of electives such as extended techniques, popular music, diction & language (English, French, Italian, German), conducting and composition that have contributed to my comprehensive knowledge in music. I have attended and performed in a number of opera and voice programs and productions over the past few years. I have also attended choral festivals and competitions in Germany and in Russia that have helped me garner experience as a choir director. I have worked as a music director at an historic brewery (The Alexander Keith's Brewery, Halifax) where I have led musicians to entertain tourists. I am currently working part-time as a music director at a church in Gatineau, where I coordinate the choir, arrange and write songs, and play the organ in congregational worship. I have also had the opportunity of organising a number of music recitals and events as well as have an experience in digital audio recordings from my time in working at the recording studio. These experiences have afforded me the skills to become more than capable to perform, compose, direct, and to teach music to students of any age and to help them in whatever aspect of music other than performance that might interest them.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
