Teaching Philosophy

I approach teaching with an open heart and mind, as each student is an individual with their own unique needs and goals. Training our voices, like any instrument, takes time and dedication, and I believe is a truly fun and rewarding experience. In my voice lessons, we will explore vocal technique and expression, and discover the amazing things your voice can do. My top priority as a teacher, is helping my students reach their musical goals in a safe, supportive, and joyful environment.

Musical Education

I have a BMus from The University of Toronto in Classical Voice Performance. Before training in Toronto, I obtained a Diploma in Music from the Victoria Conservatory of Music in BC. I received classical voice training at both schools, with a special interest in Early Music (Baroque era and earlier) and classical piano training to an RCM grade 5 level. Starting at the age of 8, I began singing in choirs and taking voice lessons. Some groups whom I have sung with as a soloist and a professional chorister include Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, The Toronto Consort, Early Music Vancouver, Pacific Baroque Festival, Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, and Festival Bach Montréal.

Awards and Distinctions

During my time studying in Victoria, I had the honour of winning first place in the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s English, Italian, and German Song competitions.

Special Skills and Trainings

I was very lucky to have a father who was not only a professional voice teacher, but also trained as a concert pianist. My earliest musical memories and love of singing started with learning from him. I was taught solfege, classical piano, ear training, and how to read music at an early age and it has benefitted me immensely throughout my life. Later on in my life, during my professional studies, I took part in multiple festivals and programs including The Victoria Conservatory of Music's Oratorio Program (2013 & 2014), University of Toronto's Fall baroque Academy (2015), and The Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (2016-2018).

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
