Teaching Philosophy

I love sharing my knowledge with a student, and I do enjoy seeing this student profiting from this knowledge and growing his skills due to it. There isn't only one way to teach an instrument, and what works for one student might not work for another one; so, if one way doesn't work, I try to think outside the box until it does work, as I have done in the past. Of course, learning an instrument always begins with very tedious exercises that have to be repeated over and over again, and making sure it doesn't get boring is an essential part of my philosophy. My motto is: "HAVE FUN!!!"

Musical Education

I have attended the following schools earning the following degrees: - Quebec City Music Conservatory - DESMII in Percussion/Performance, 1st Prizes in Sight-Singing and Musical Dictation. - CEGEP de Sainte-Foy - Collegial Degree in Percussion, second instrument Drum Set.

Awards and Distinctions

- Finalist in the Expression Prize Concours in CEGEP in 1988 - First Prizes in Sight-Singing and Ear Training in 1992 - Solo With Orchestra on Timpani with the Conservatory Orchestra in 1996

Special Skills and Trainings

I have performed in two Youth Symphony Orchestras during my training, and also went on tour in France with one of them, at the Orchestrades Internationales de Brive-La-Gaillarde, in France. I also played drums in several cover bands, and Cruise Ship orchestras, where we accompanied several famous names in entertainment - I learned a lot from performing with these great entertainers and fellow musicians and gained a lot of knowledge from all of them.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
