Teaching Philosophy

When working with students, it is always my goal to help them to enjoy music as a fulfilling aspect of their lives. At the same time, I believe music provides a wonderful challenge that is beneficial to one’s growth, not only on their chosen instrument or area of focus, but in many character traits and skills which prove applicable in all areas of life. Guiding students along this path of development and catering to their individual interests, personalities, and learning styles is a true passion of mine, and a pursuit I take seriously. I consider myself a constant student of music, and to me, teaching is just as much a reciprocal experience of sharing information with the student as well as absorbing information from the student. In my experience, this open-minded approach to instruction is key to a dynamic that is genuinely impactful for students. I would be thrilled to share in the learning process of music with you or whoever you are interested in registering for lessons, and promise my full dedication in delivering a high-quality and rewarding experience.

Musical Education

I have studied music theory ad well as numerous styles of guitar playing. For example, I studied classical guitar with Brian McDowell through his private studio for several years, and also attend Humber College for jazz guitar, where I am in my fourth and final year obtaining my Bachelor of Music. At Humber, I have studied with several highly respected guitarists like Lorne Lofsky, Rob Bulger, Jocelyn Gould, and Nathan Hiltz. Of course, I also credit a great deal of my musical education and development to investigating the music I love as part of a self-teaching process.

Special Skills and Trainings

Over the course of my development as a musician, I have had the chance to share my music with a variety of audiences, have incredible experiences meeting and even working alongside my musical heroes, share knowledge with students, and work closely with incredible mentors. I am a two-time performer at Windsong Music Festival held in Powassan Ontario, and have experience playing regular live shows, having opened for Juno award winners like Joey Landreth and Ian Tamblyn. With regards to education, I have been working with students for a number of years, and have developed a grasp of the skillset required to reach young children as well as adults. Being someone who constantly works on improving on the guitar myself, I find it natural to communicate to others how they might achieve improvement themselves. During my teaching career, I have become adept in implementing thoughtful teaching strategies as well as genuinely connecting with students to help them along their personal path toward their musical goals.

Lessons on an online platform

Daelin can provide online instruction. While other platforms are possible BAH strongly recommends the use of the Zoom video conferencing platform as it is optimized for music lessons and audio quality.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
