Claudia - BAH Teacher #3653

About Claudia
Claudia is a multifaceted music teacher specializing in singer-songwriter and voice lessons. She offers her services online and in the homes of students starting from the age of 8 to adults. With a unique teaching philosophy rooted in performance and acting education, Claudia aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Her approach includes not just voice technique but also performance skills, helping students to trust in their own processes and evolve as both artists and individuals. Fluent in English and Spanish, Claudia creates an inclusive and dynamic learning environment for all her students.

My approach to Voice is from a combination of different disciplines enrooted in Performance and Acting Education. Since my background combines Theatre with Music, my students get to experience a performer's full perspective, by learning not only Voice technique but tools of exploration and skills to perform in front of an audience. I want my students to trust and learn from their own processes, I love to be their guide and see how they evolve not only in the subject but as people too.

Name: Claudia (Full name will be provided upon registration)

Age: 28

Gender: female

My first approach to Music education was at the age of 6 when I became a member of the National Children's Choir of Peru. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts and Sciences with a specialization in Performing Arts from PUCP (Lima, Peru). I've studied at NMSU (New Mexico, USA) in the Theatre Arts Faculty as an exchange student for a semester. And I've also studied Voice and Body Training for Actors and Singers in the Grotowski Institute (Wroclaw, Poland). I still keep up with my own voice training by taking classes of Lyrical Singing. I have been a professional actress and singer for 9 years and a Voice teacher for 5 years. And I currently live in Vancouver to study Acting for Film and Television at Vancouver Film School.

I've taught virtual classes of Vocal Technique and Interpretation to Spanish-speaking children and teenagers from different parts of the world through the renowned ed-tech startup Prendea, during the pandemic. In this role, I have played an instrumental part in the process of adapting children to virtual education taking care of their social and emotional wellbeing; in keeping their artistic activities and training still available to them despite social distance; and finally in creating courses and special classes that motivate them to continue learning in the face of the challenges of the educational situation due to COVID-19. The most important achievement for me has been having the trust of my employers and my students reflected in the number of courses and hours that I've taught, having directed more than 16 masterclasses and having more than 100 positive reviews from my own students and their parents.

I have been a professional actress and singer for 9 years and Voice and Performance teacher for 5 years. I have: - Experience teaching Drama and Music to children - Educational technology skills - A recognized Performing Arts qualification and complementary education - Teacher skills: Time management, Critical thinking, Patience, Communication, Organization, Leadership, Teamwork, - Imaginative thinking and Conflict resolution.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)

Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00

Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)

1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
