Teaching Philosophy

I have two main goals in my lessons. My first is to ensure that singers keep their inherent love of singing while learning more about their instrument. I aim to do this by promoting autonomy in my singers and building lessons around their interests. It is the students joy that will guide lessons. My second goal is to promote healthy and versatile singers. No matter what style someone wants to sing in, they need to work towards being able to use their head voice, chest voice and have movement between the two. In my lessons, I aim to build on a singers strengths but also work on the techniques they struggle with.

Musical Education

I am recent graduate of my Master of Music in Voice and Opera from McGill University after previously completing a Bachelor of Music Education at Western University in London. ON. Both of these degrees have given me experience and knowledge of vocal pedagogy, teaching young voices, music theory, and acting through singing.

Special Skills and Trainings

Before university, I earned RCM certificates in voice and theory as well as participated in singing competitions. During my time as a performer, I have worked in multiple disciplines including Musical Theatre, Opera, choir, and solo performance. I have also worked extensively as a stage manager. These experiences have given me a diverse breadth of knowledge in repertoire, the different techniques needed in different disciplines, and an understanding of the business as a whole.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
