With my extensive training, I am committed to helping my students achieve their personal goals by incorporating a nurturing, exciting, and encouraging environment for them to develop endurance, agency, and sensitivity, and tap into their musical identity! Each lesson will be perfectly tailored to the student’s learning style, age, and level, everybody is unique. I follow the Suzuki Method in my studio while enabling cultural responsiveness, and accessibility, and giving space for students to explore. All while developing a very good ear! I follow this philosophy in order to reinforce a student’s individuality, empower, inspire, and build meaningful and long-lasting connections to music. I believe that everyone should have the option and access to music education. In most cases. Children and families should have access to music education because of the social-emotional benefits -- group music-making, the positive effect on school attendance and performance -- and the rigor of practice on their instrument, to name a few. The curriculum built into music learning and appreciation can give students a more diverse skillset for a successful trajectory in life, whatever they may define that as.
I began studying the flute privately at the age of 2 years old using the Suzuki Music Method. The Suzuki Method has the belief that musical ability is not an inborn talent but an ability that can be developed. Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability, just as all children develop the ability to speak their mother tongue. The potential of every child is unlimited. During that time I spent years playing in youth orchestras, and chamber groups and performing in a diverse range of other ensembles! I attended McGill University and received a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance, I received a graduate diploma from the Université de Montreal and obtained a Masters in Music Education from the Longy School of Music. I was also a member of the 2021 Global Leaders Program Cohort where I received my graduate certificate in Social Entrepreneurship, Cultural Agency, Innovation Development, Business Management, Design Thinking & Education Leadership. I am a professionally trained Suzuki Flute Teacher and specialized in culturally responsive and socially relevant music education in my Masters Degree. I have studied with some of the world's renowned flutists such as Timothy Hutchins, Denis Bluteau, Carolyn Christie, William Bennett, Joanna G'froerer, and James Galway. I have performed with orchestras all over Canada such as the Symphony New Brunswick and the Tutta Musica Orchestra and participated in festivals such as Lunenburg Harbour Folk Festival, Pender Island Flute Retreat, Galway Summer Flute Festival, Festival de Musique Chambre Lac Baker, and Orford Music Festival. I have had my own flute studio for 8 years and teach students from ages 2-70. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to work with incredible community music programs such as the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, Sistema New Brunswick, and Orkidstra (The Leading Note Foundation).

I spent my early childhood years watching my mother teach the flute to her students in our own home and I have wonderful memories of her connecting with her students that inspired me to also become a music teacher. My training began primarily with the Suzuki Method as a student but then I went on to become a Suzuki Teacher myself. I received my Every Child Can Training, and Books 1-3. I took private lessons for 18 years with a variety of skilled educators and flutists that provided me with the insight of different schools of teaching the flute that I am now able to transfer to my students today! I also specialized in early childhood and culturally responsive and socially relevant music education in my Masters which helps inform my practice as an educator as well. I have worked in a variety of different education settings such as music for social change in group class settings at Sistema NB, the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and Orkidstra, conducting wind ensembles and full orchestras, teaching flute inside schools, and of course, teaching private lessons at my home studio! These experiences have enriched my life and transformed me into the teacher I am today!
