Teaching Philosophy

I firmly believe that every music student deserves a positive and nurturing learning environment. As a guitar instructor, I take the time to understand each student's goals and craft a personalized program to ensure their success. My teaching experience covers a wide range of levels, from beginners to advanced. Additionally, I offer guidance for RCM exams and university entrance auditions to help aspiring guitarists achieve their musical aspirations.

Musical Education

I have pursued my passion for music through extensive studies at various esteemed institutions: - Florida State University, where I achieved a Doctor of Music in Guitar Performance under the guidance of Bruce Holzman. My defense took place in November 2020, and I studied there from 2015 to 2020. - At Robert Schumann Hochschule, I earned a Master of Music in Guitar Performance. During my time there from 2013 to 2015, I had the privilege of studying with esteemed professors like Alexander Sergei Ramirez, Rafael Aguirre, Joaquin Clerch, and Javier Conde. - Prior to that, I attended the Koblenz Guitar Academy, where I honed my skills under the guidance of Hubert Kappell from 2012 to 2013. - My musical journey began at the University of Victoria, where I obtained a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance. Under the mentorship of Alexander Dunn, I thrived from 2007 to 2011. Through these enriching experiences, I have developed a deep understanding and mastery of guitar performance, nurturing my love for music and continuously expanding my expertise.

Special Skills and Trainings

Over the course of my journey as a music educator, I have had the privilege of teaching at the University Level for three years. It was a rewarding experience to guide and mentor young minds in their musical pursuits, fostering their growth and passion for the guitar. Additionally, I had the honor of serving as an adjudicator for a guitar event aimed at young children.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
