Teaching Philosophy

My approach is to truly listen and support my students on their journey to success. Unlike many, I believe in delving into the reasons behind their struggles, forging a personal connection to better understand their challenges. Going the extra mile, I aim to build trust and rapport with my students, fostering an environment where they feel comfortable sharing their concerns. When a student encounters difficulties, I am dedicated to collaborating with them to find solutions and ways to improve their situation. My motivation is to encourage and uplift them, helping them see the brighter side and empowering them to overcome obstacles. In my role as a teacher, I value professionalism, but I also cherish the bond of friendship with my students. Striving to be both respected and regarded as a friend, I seek to create a nurturing and supportive space where learning flourishes and students thrive.

Musical Education

I hold a BA in music from McGill University, where my focus was on Performance, specializing in Trumpet & Brass Instruments. My journey with the trumpet began at the age of 10, and I've continued honing my skills ever since. My training in music theory and brass playing has been under the guidance of esteemed professionals with a commitment to excellence. Throughout my musical journey, I have had the privilege to perform with prestigious ensembles such as the National Youth Band of Canada, Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, McGill Symphony Orchestra, and McGill Wind Orchestra. These experiences have enriched my musicality and shaped me into a versatile and skilled brass player. Moreover, I possess the rare gift of perfect pitch, allowing me to perceive and understand music in a unique and intuitive way. With this wealth of musical knowledge and experiences, I am passionate about sharing my expertise with others, guiding them on their own musical paths to reach their full potential.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
