Teaching Philosophy
Pythagoras was amongst the first to posit the theory of the music of the spheres. Millenia later, quantum mechanics seems to reaffirm a similar idea and so does cymatics. Clearly, there is something magical and fundamental about music, and as a teacher I inspire my students to see that. I inspire them to not only turn the notes on the page into sound but to make that sound express something unique to them, which is something unique about the world. That is the power of music. Given my extensive experience, not only is my teaching method efficient and effective, but I believe in establishing a good rapport with all my students. Students, specially the younger ones, enjoy music a lot more when they like their teacher! I teach all ages and levels and always cater my lessons to my students’ specific needs and personalities. That is of utmost importance to me. I always aspire to instill a life-long passion for music in my pupils. I believe this to be of utmost value, not only for their further pursuit of music, but their general development as intelligent, caring and responsible human beings. If music is so fundamental to the reality we live in, it is a part of us. As a music teacher, I do my best to help my students discover that part of themselves.

University of Toronto • A graduate funding consisting of university tuition plus a stipend amount of $11,000 a year for the four years of study, received due to an exceptional academic transcript. University of British Columbia • Faculty of Arts Graduate Award, 2011 – in the amount of $2000 • Robert A. Tipple Scholarship in Music, 2009 – in the amount of $900 • Maurice Taylor Scholarship in Music, 2009 – in the amount of $300 • Pearl Schneider Chan Memorial Scholarship in Music, 2008 – in the amount of $2300 • President’s Entrance Scholarship, 2006 – in the amount of $500 • British Columbia Government Scholarship, 2006 – in the amount of $1000 I've had my music performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and others. I am the head composer of the videogame, "The Lays of Altas" I have also scored a lot of movies and am credited on IMDb. One of such films, "The Gold Teeth," made it to Oscar-qualifying festivals.
Special Skills and Trainings
I have a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in music composition from the University of Toronto (2016). I am also an accomplished pianist and improviser. I am an RCM-certified teacher and am comfortable teaching any level of RCM piano, theory, harmony/counterpoint and history. I also teach composition as I am active scoring films and videogames.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:
Arvin is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
