Teaching Philosophy

I strongly believe that every student is unique, with different learning styles, goals, and musical interests. With this in mind, my approach is to initially focus on fundamental aspects during the initial lessons, such as stick handling, posture, wrist warm-ups, familiarizing students with the drum kit, and teaching them how to count, read, and write music. Simultaneously, I take the time to understand the student on a personal level, discovering their musical preferences, aspirations, and the specific songs they desire to learn. Based on this valuable insight, I create a tailored lesson plan that encompasses the essential foundations of drumming, while catering to their individual preferences and comprehension. By doing so, I aim to motivate and inspire my students to continue their lessons and practice diligently.

Musical Education

In 1998, I embarked on my drumming journey at a music school, where my first teacher imparted valuable knowledge. Eager to expand my skills, I pursued private lessons, delving into various styles including rock, pop, jazz, and Latin. Along the way, I also acquired the ability to teach myself. As my passion for drumming grew, I began sharing my expertise with fellow students at my high school in 2009. What started as a small endeavor quickly gained momentum, as more and more students became interested in learning from me.

Awards and Distinctions

As indicated in my profile, I have had the privilege of working in studios with numerous bands across a wide range of musical genres. This experience has granted me a deep appreciation and comprehensive understanding of various music styles, as well as proficiency in playing different percussion instruments. Consequently, I feel confident and at ease when teaching students about diverse musical genres and the intricacies of various percussion instruments.

Special Skills and Trainings

I possess a diverse skill set that extends beyond my expertise as a drummer. Over the years, I have taught myself to play the guitar, piano, and harmonica, although not to a level where I can confidently teach them. However, this knowledge and experience with multiple instruments have greatly enhanced my understanding of how each component functions within a band, ultimately making it easier to comprehend and teach drumming. Moreover, I bring several years of valuable experience as a full-time touring and studio musician, adding depth to my teaching approach.
