Teaching Philosophy

In my lessons, I strive to foster a love for music and for the violin. Challenging yourself, being a confident violinist and enjoying learning and sharing your musical talents with family and friends are elements I make sure to communicate in my lessons. I am committed to offering lessons to students of all levels and interests. I bring a wealth of experience to the classroom and enable students to gain a solid understanding in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. During lessons, you can be assured of plenty of individual attention and focus. Lessons will involve focusing on technique and performance, as well as theory (when needed). I design each lesson according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their specific needs.

Musical Education

In high school I attended the well-known music school Joseph-François-Perrault. I subsequently went to Cégep de Saint-Laurent where I studied classical violin for three years. After a year spent studying violin at the University of Ottawa under the tutelage of the National Arts Center Orchestra's concertmaster Yosuke Kawasaki, I decided to explore jazz as a different way of expressing my creativity and went back to Cégep de Saint-Laurent to obtain a professional degree in Jazz and Pop Performance. I have since completed a Bachelor's in Jazz Violin Performance at the Université de Montréal.

Special Skills and Trainings

Having studied classical music for many years and just recently having graduated from the Université de Montréal with a Bachelor's in Jazz Violin Performance, I have learned throughout my studies to play in many styles, namely classical and jazz, allowing me to follow a detailed and unique approach when I teach. Throughout my studies, I have also been able to follow extensive ear-training, musical theory as well as composition classes which helps me better guide my students by allowing me to have a fuller perspective on teaching music.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
