Teaching Philosophy

I believe that learning music can benefit anyone, at any age. It has been proven to help with learning and developing motor skills with young children. For adults, it is a moment that you can take to center yourself. It helps you to know who you are and grow your confidence. I always adapt my teaching to each of my students. I use diverse methods and will pick the right piece, the right exercise to help with a better understanding of the instrument. I believe in positive and compassionate teaching, where the student can develop his or her skills, and as a musician and as a human. Developing my student's motivation is at the core of my teaching. I will incorporate improvisation exercises, alternative repertoire, and will keep my student's mind on the goals they are working toward.

Musical Education

I have attended the following schools earning the following degrees: University of Montreal - D.E.P.A. in music - Master of music - Bachelor of music Cégep de Saint-Laurent - D.E.C.C.. of music My principal teachers were Anik Hébert, Johanne Perron and Yegor Dyachkov. I did an exchange for one semester during my Master in Geneva with Ophélie Gaillard.

Special Skills and Trainings

I followed two music pedagogy seminars in graduate school. They helped me develop my teaching skills and to create my personal method. I've learned about how the human brain works when learning a musical instrument, about what really works, and which learning methods are outdated and not really useful anymore.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
