Music is a vital outlet for my creativity, allowing me to express myself and connect with others. I firmly believe that music has the power to unite people, fostering bonds and deepening our self-awareness and understanding of the world. It's a wonderful avenue for growth and exploring new perspectives. In everything related to music, be it performance or lessons, the core should always be the joy and profound emotional impact that music brings. We create music for our own well-being and enjoyment, enriching the lives of others in the process. To do this effectively, we must respect our own authenticity when making music, a process that encompasses practice, reflection, and personal growth. Respect, both for the music and for each other, is at the heart of musical education. The sheer joy of making music and the freedom to express oneself are fundamental. My teaching philosophy revolves around respecting students, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment where they can freely express themselves. I never impose unnecessary pressure or anxiety, recognizing each student as a unique individual who deserves to find their own voice in a nurturing setting.
I have a Master's in Vocal Performance and Literature and an Artist Diploma from Western University and a BFA in Honours Vocal Performance from York University. I have studied voice classically from the age of 11, for 17 years. I studied with a classical Russian teacher for seven years at the Contemporary Conservatory of Music and Arts before continuing post-secondary studies in music at university. Some of my teachers during my university studies have included Brian McIntosh, Stephanie Bogle and Catherine Robbin. I currently sing professionally with the Juno award-winning Ottawa Bach Choir and perform actively as a soloist with various groups in the GTA including Chorus York and the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra.
I recently won second prize at the Clifford Poole Vocal Competition in December 2019 and got the opportunity to perform with the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. I was also a finalist at the Toronto Mozart Competition in January 2020. In December of 2015, I won the York University Concerto Competition and performed with the York University Symphony Orchestra in February of 2016.
I began singing classically at age 11 and have continued my studies for 17 years, through post-secondary education, to the present day. I have had many wonderful teachers throughout my university education and I am also a practitioner of the Alexander Technique. I have studied several languages including French, German and Italian and I am able to coach diction on any of these languages. I have experience teaching English and French to children in other capacities and have a great rapport with kids; always eager to hear their perspectives and what they have to teach me!

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
