Teaching Philosophy

Classical guitar weaves into my daily life like the essentials of eating and sleeping. Across cultures, languages, and musical genres, the rhythm within music remains constant. Rhythm, a foundational cornerstone of music, finds a distinct expression through the classical guitar, uniquely able to harmonize melodies and accompaniments. A key mission of mine is nurturing my students' rhythm, a force that propels them through both their musical journey and life's path. Amidst musical mishaps, the rhythm shouldn't falter, a principle I emphasize rigorously. In tandem, I devote meticulous attention to posture and technique. The classical guitar, akin to many instruments, feels foreign to our physicality. Guiding students to cultivate their body's well-being—relaxing hands, back, shoulders, and countenance—is paramount. I'm resolute in establishing a safe haven where students anticipate the joys of classical guitar playing and learning. As the spark of delight ignites, practice extends seamlessly beyond the classroom, anticipation for lessons kindles. This symbiotic relationship between enthusiasm and learning organically takes root.

Musical Education

I have just graduated with a bachelor of Music Education from the University of Toronto. I have played classical guitar since I moved to Canada when I was 10 years old. I studied with Frank Deresti, an energetic and rigorous conservatory teacher , until the age of 18. At the University, I studied under Rob MacDonald and Jeffrey McFadden, two of the best classical guitarists in the country. I have learned a tremendous amount of repertoire and technique, as well as have had the privilege of playing in a guitar ensemble for 12 years. In my time in Toronto, I have met amazing teachers and colleagues who have pushed me to be a strong guitar player and teacher.

Special Skills and Trainings

-Participated and won multiple Kiwanis' festivals -Opened for a Guitar Society of Toronto concert -Participated in shield competitions -Have a little 10 year old brother that I have been teaching since the day he was born. I've learned to be very patient, kind and fun with kids.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
