Teaching Philosophy

I firmly believe that the pursuit of music holds immense value in one's personal journey towards self-discovery and fulfillment. Whether it's mastering a new instrument or diving into a fresh melody, the process demands commitment and discipline—qualities that are crucial for success in any endeavor, be it learning a language or embarking on an entrepreneurial venture. However, the beauty of music lies in its inherent joy and playfulness. It's called "playing" music for a reason! For young learners, music instills the vital lesson that focused dedication can help them reach their aspirations. And for more seasoned students, let's embark on an engaging and delightful learning adventure, where we can relish the tunes that have resonated with you for years. Together, let's discover the joy of music-making and embrace the challenges that will fuel our growth.

Musical Education

My formal music education began at Vanier College. During this time, I primarily focused on jazz guitar. My studies then continued at Humber College in Toronto where I earned an honours BA in music. During my undergrad, I expanded my horizons and delved into other genres of music as well as other disciplines, such as composition and arranging. As a part and as a result of my education, I have played in some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including the Rex and the Opera House in Toronto and the TD stage at the Montreal JazzFest.

Awards and Distinctions

I received the Ted Quinlan Guitar Award at Humber College.

Special Skills and Trainings

In addition to my experience working privately, I teach and have taught in classroom settings in elementary schools for years which has given me a unique set of skills when working with younger students.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
