Actively performing piano for 15 years and as an experienced teacher travelling from Australia to Canada, one of my biggest personal goals is to be able to develop individuality, creativity and virtuosity in the students I teach. Various components of my CENTRAL teaching philosophy include the focus on both musical and technical aspect of music making >> 1. TECHNIQUE FOCUS: exercises that focuses on finger movement, finger pressure, wrist movement, and arm pressure that helps with producing vibrant sounds in performances >> 2. MUSICAL FOCUS: helping students achieve individualistic understanding of the emotional aspect of music and dig it a little deeper- such as interpretative phrasing, understanding the backgrounds and context of the piece before weaving it into a story of its own. /// I loved being able to pass on and share my passion for music with students of all ages. To me, music education became such an inspiring part of my musical journey to not only share knowledge with all of my students, and at the same time, developing and redefining my own role as a musician at the very same time. If my own artistic language makes the audience feel the emotion I intend to deliver, it will bring a smile to my face.
Trained in classical piano from the age of 6, I studied under the tutelage of Sun Yun at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music for four years before moving to Australia. In my 10 years of stay in Australia, I studied privately under Margaret Hair. I was enrolled into Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and have also studied with Clemens Leske. Now having travelled from Australia to Canada in the pursuit of newer opportunities, I am completing my Bachelor of Music Performance degree at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. As a full time recipient of the Liliane Szenteleky - de Kresz Scholarship and the Ron Bresler and Erin Donohue Scholarship, I am now studying with John Perry and David Louie.
Having won numerous distinction prizes from the Greater Sydney Eisteddfods, I have since remained active in numerous collaborative engagements. In 2017 and 2019, I participated in the Sydney International KAWAI Piano Masterclass Festival, studying with and performing for Robert McDonald and John Perry. Having won the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition in 2020, I made my debut as a soloist in 2022 with the Penrith Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Paul Terracini. In 2023, I was both an alumni and a performer at the Orford Musique Academie and the International Holland Music Sessions in the Netherlands.
Aside from teaching piano performance and practise methods, I am also very open to provide theory tutoring services. I hold a Grade 6 Distinction Award in the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) theory syllabus, and are happy to teach beginner to intermediate level theory in both ONLINE and private lesson formats:)

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
