Teaching Philosophy

As a piano instructor, my teaching philosophy centers on fostering a love for music while developing technical proficiency, musicality, and personal growth in each student. I believe that every student is unique, and my approach is to tailor lessons to individual learning styles and goals. 1. Holistic Development: Beyond mastering technical skills, I aim to cultivate a deep understanding and appreciation of music. This includes exploring the emotional and expressive aspects of piano playing, encouraging creativity, and connecting the historical and cultural contexts of the pieces. 2. Student-Centered Learning: Each student has their own pace, strengths, and areas for improvement. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable to express themselves. 3. Building a Strong Foundation: A solid technical foundation is essential for artistic expression and long-term success. I emphasize the importance of proper technique, posture, and hand position from the beginning. 4. Goal Setting and Progress: Setting clear, achievable goals is crucial for maintaining motivation and tracking progress. I work with students to set both short-term and long-term goals. 5. Adaptability and Lifelong Learning: The landscape of music education is always evolving, and so should our teaching methods. I stay informed about new pedagogical approaches, repertoire, and technologies to continually enhance my teaching practice. 6. Encouraging Independence and Critical Thinking: I guide students towards becoming independent musicians who can analyze, interpret, and solve problems on their own. Join me and learn playing the piano with fun.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
