Being a piano teacher is awesome because it's about sharing my love for music and helping students find their own musical voice. I want my students to really connect with music, not just learn the notes. It's not just about teaching them the techniques, but also letting them to be creative, focused, and express themselves through music. Every student is different, so I try to make my lessons fit each student's learning style. This way, they can build confidence and get a good grasp of music theory and playing. Creating a fun, inspiring and supportive learning space is super important to me. I want my students to feel comfy trying new things and seeing what they can do musically. Rather than dictating students' playing, I prefer letting them discover the better solutions through demonstrations, attentive listening, and subtle cues, which encourages analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. My piano studies began at the age of five, and I received formal musical training at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music Middle School in China. These formative years were instrumental in developing my technical abilities and musical comprehension. Driven by a lifelong passion for music, I pursued higher education at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. There, I had the privilege of studying piano under the guidance of renowned pianist Ya-fei Chuang. My education also included studying piano pedagogy with pianist and educator Jonathan Bass, chamber music with touring violinist Sharan Leventhal and Grammy-awarded violist Paul Laraia. These experiences profoundly shaped my artistic development.

As a teacher, I bring a mix of classical training and real-world musical experience. I’ve studied improvisation a lot and love encouraging my students to get creative and try it out themselves. Since I’ve performed in both classical and pop styles, I can help students to touch on various styles—so lessons stay fun and relevant to their interests. I’ve also helped students prepare for RCM exams at all levels, with great results. Plus, I find that playing duets with my students is a great way to boost their confidence and musicality—it’s something they genuinely enjoy and always look forward to!
