Teddy is a professional trombonist and educator teaching trombone, baritone, and euphonium. Holding a Bachelor of Music from McGill University, her pedagogical approach emphasizes fun and playfulness, viewing music as an innate skill. A versatile musician, she is also a producer and electronic musician who has toured North America and played with the Orchestre International de Jazz. Teddy offers online sessions and in-studio lessons in the Montreal area.
I believe that music education should be fun and playful. Music and rhythm are skills that everyone innately possesses, and it can be found in our heartbeats, walking pace, and the way we speak. I always begin new students with warmup techniques like breathing and stretching, and often incorporate a brief listening session into our practice to develop the skill of hearing your ideal sound without judgement. Experimentation is at the core of playful practice. How loud can I play? What is my favourite song to practice and why? What colours can I create with one note? Having fun and learning not to judge ourselves is just as important as audition preparation, repertoire, and all the formal stuff. Music should be a safe space to learn and play, just like a language.
I have a B.Mus (Jazz trombone) degree from McGill University, where I studied classical music as well for several years and worked with accomplished Canadian Trombonists like David Grott, Trevor Dix and John VanDursen. At McGill I studied a combination of classical performance techniques and practices like excerpt and audition preparation and technique, and then studied jazz in the form of improvisation, ensemble musicianship and jazz composition. Although I learned lots from university, I have learned even more from my experience as a working musician across Canada, and have taught several high school-level masterclasses and held conducting engagements and musical director positions around Montreal.
I have spent my last 5 years in montreal playing professionally in the local scene and working with many amazing musicians and performers. This has lead me all around the continent, from touring around North America, to studio sessions in LA and playing with Montreal ensembles like Orchestre International de Jazz. In addition to being a trombonist, I am also a music producer and electronic musician, and love incorporating effects into my practice!!

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
