About Taymoor
Taymoor, a dedicated piano teacher based in Edmonton, offers lessons for students aged 6 to adults. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a focus on piano studies at the University of Alberta, Taymoor combines his passion for music with comprehensive teaching techniques. He teaches piano, counterpoint, dictation, ear training, music appreciation, music history, beginner to intermediate music theory, and solfege. Lessons are available online, in-studio, or at the student’s home.

Teaching Philosophy
Music has always been more than a skill to me it is a lifelong pursuit that teaches discipline, patience, creativity, and perseverance. As both a performer and teacher, I believe that learning the piano is not simply about playing the correct notes, but about developing the ability to think critically, express oneself artistically, and cultivate habits that lead to meaningful growth. My teaching is rooted in the classical tradition and emphasizes healthy technique, musical understanding, and efficient practice. Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual's goals while maintaining high standards and encouraging steady progress. I strive to help students become independent musicians who understand not only what to practice, but how to practice effectively. I believe that consistent effort is the foundation of success. Talent alone does not produce excellent musicians dedication, curiosity, and disciplined practice do. For this reason, I am best suited to students who are committed to their musical development and are willing to engage thoughtfully with the learning process. Above all, I hope to inspire a lifelong appreciation for music. Whether a student chooses to pursue examinations or simply wishes to deepen their understanding of the piano, my goal is to provide the guidance, structure, and encouragement needed to help them grow into confident, expressive musicians.
Musical Education
I recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. My studies focused on solo piano performance, piano pedagogy, music theory, music history, and collaborative musicianship. Throughout my degree, I worked closely with distinguished faculty while developing a strong foundation in the classical piano repertoire, technical development, and musical interpretation.
Awards and Distinctions
Throughout my musical training, I have sought opportunities to learn from accomplished performers and expand my experience beyond the classroom. I have participated in the Edmonton Music & Speech Arts Festival, where I advanced to the provincial level, and have performed in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed pianists Angela Cheng and Illia Ovcharenko. I have also participated in the Conero International Piano Competition (IPPA), gaining valuable performance experience and artistic insight.
Special Skills and Trainings
In addition to my formal training, I have over four years of experience teaching private piano lessons to students of varying ages and abilities. This experience has strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching to each student's individual learning style while maintaining a structured, goal-oriented approach. Throughout my studies, I developed a particular interest in piano pedagogy and effective practice strategies. I enjoy helping students understand not only how to play the piano, but how to practice efficiently, solve technical challenges independently, and develop the skills necessary for long-term musical growth. As an active classical pianist, I continue to study and refine my own musicianship. I believe that remaining engaged as both a performer and lifelong learner allows me to bring fresh insight, curiosity, and enthusiasm into every lesson.

Teacher Lesson Rates:
Taymoor is a Beethoven at Home Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
