Teaching Philosophy

Music has been a part of my life from a young age, and I love helping students discover their own connection to it. I believe that learning music should be both structured and enjoyable, with a strong technical foundation built through patience, encouragement, and consistent practice. I strive to create a positive, supportive environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and confident. Every student learns differently, and I adapt my teaching to meet individual needs, whether working with children or adults. My goal is for students to not only develop musical skills, but also a lasting enjoyment of making music.

Musical Education

I began studying piano at the age of seven and then started studying violin a few years later. I received my Grade 10 piano certification by the time I finished high school and continued to study music during college. Throughout my training, I competed in numerous music festivals, gaining extensive performance experience. I began teaching piano and violin at the age of sixteen and have continued to teach for nearly three decades, gaining extensive experience in music teaching and instruction across a wide range of levels.

Awards and Distinctions

Throughout my training, I have won several awards in music festivals, ranging from monetary prizes to plaques, and including a week-long intensive piano workshop. These experiences inspire my teaching and love of music.

Special Skills and Trainings

Music was a huge part of my life growing up. I have played in several bands and learned to play by ear in group settings, which helps me teach listening, improvisation, and ensemble skills. I have also competed in many music festivals, giving me insight into preparing students for performances and exams. Studying both piano and violin gives me a well-rounded perspective on technique, practice, and musicianship that I bring to every lesson.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
