Teaching Philosophy
I believe that music education is a powerful tool for building essential skills, fostering emotional expression, encouraging creativity, and deepening cultural appreciation. My role as a music educator is not only to teach but to guide, facilitate, and inspire my students in their musical journey. I strive to create a classroom environment where mutual respect, admiration, and friendship form the foundation of our learning relationship. In my teaching, I integrate the technical aspects of music—such as theory, technique, and notation—with the more creative and expressive elements, like improvisation and performance. I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s age, ability, and unique learning style, ensuring that the content remains both challenging and achievable. I am committed to introducing students to a diverse range of musical styles, genres, and cultures. Whether through voice or an instrument like the ukulele, I aim to provide a well-rounded musical education that reflects the richness of the global musical landscape. Teaching brings me immense joy, and I endeavor to infuse that joy into every lesson. My ultimate goal is to foster a love of music in my students, encouraging them to not only master their craft but also to embrace the joy and fulfillment that music can bring to their lives.
Musical Education
Music has been at the heart of my life for as long as I can remember. For over 25 years, I’ve had the joy and privilege of performing and writing songs that speak to the soul. Along the way, I’ve been honored to work with some of the most beloved artists in gospel music—Bill and Gloria Gaither, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, The Hoppers, Russ Taff, Michael English, and many others. Hearing my songs come to life through the voices of other gospel artists has been one of the greatest affirmations of my calling as a songwriter. I studied choral directing at Northpoint College in Haverhill, Massachusetts, which gave me the foundation to step into a decade-long role as a Fine Arts Pastor. During that time, I had the opportunity to direct choirs and write orchestral scores for special productions each Easter, Christmas, and throughout the year. Those seasons were filled with creativity, collaboration, and a deep sense of purpose. For the past 13 years, I’ve devoted myself to teaching music professionally. It's in the classroom—whether with a young beginner or a seasoned vocalist—that I’ve found some of my most rewarding moments. Guiding students in discovering their own musical voices continues to be one of the great joys of my life.
Awards and Distinctions
Throughout my musical journey, I have been honored to receive several awards that have encouraged and inspired me to continue pursuing my passion. As a teenager, I was proud to win multiple vocal awards in singing competitions throughout Eastern Ontario and Quebec which helped to build my confidence and deepen my love for performance. One memorable achievement was winning first place in the vocal singing showdown at the Kingston Fall Fair in Kingston,ON an experience that affirmed my dedication to honing my craft. I was also humbled to be recognized as a finalist in the Christian Women in Media songwriting competition in Nashville, Tennessee—an acknowledgment that connected me with a wider community of artists and affirmed my voice as a songwriter. Alongside these, I have received other awards that reflect different facets of my musical journey, each holding a special place in my heart and continuing to inspire my work as a performer, songwriter, and educator.
Special Skills and Trainings
My foundation in music began at home, where I spent countless hours watching my mother teach piano lessons. Her patient and joyful teaching style left a deep impression on me, and much of the way I approach my own students today is shaped by her example. In my teen years, I developed my technical and rhythmic skills as a percussionist in my high school band, where I learned sight-reading and regularly competed for first and second chair. Around the same time, I began singing in church as a soloist, which eventually led to performing with my family as we traveled and ministered through music across the United States. These experiences taught me the power of musical connection and stage presence at a young age. I also began playing the ukulele when I was 12 years old and have continued playing ever since. It has become one of my favorite instruments to teach, especially to beginners, because of its accessibility, versatility, and the joy it brings to students of all ages. During college, I joined a touring choir and sang second soprano, often featured as a soloist. These opportunities helped me refine my vocal technique, harmony skills, and performance discipline. As a recording artist, I’ve written and recorded three original projects and contributed background vocals for a variety of gospel artists throughout the U.S. and Canada. These studio experiences have sharpened my ear for vocal blending, phrasing, and musical storytelling. Through all of this, I’ve developed a well-rounded skill set that includes vocal coaching, ukulele instruction, sight-reading, performance preparation, songwriting, harmonization, and ensemble leadership. Whether in a classroom, a studio, or on stage, I bring both technical precision and heartfelt expression to everything I do musically.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:

- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
