My teaching philosophy is focusing on what makes every student unique; finding their path, and using the fundamentals to work towards that path. My approach is well rounded. While there are rules in music, there is every reason to break them. I not only teach what is possible to learn in music (such as rhythm, pitch, sight reading, ear training, etc.), but also how to use them in a practical, useful, and creative ways. I focus on how to get the mind thinking on any musical concept in real world scenarios, and using them outside the box.
I have an honours in a Bachelor of Music (Composition) from Western University, which included classes on writing music, orchestration, theory, piano lessons/performance. I have playing piano for 20+ years since the age of 6, and have studied mainly in the areas of classical and popular music. I also have a diploma in Music Industry Arts from Fanshawe College, where I studied music production, engineering, and general industry knowledge.
Instrumentalist of the Year (2021) - Music Industry Arts (Fanshawe College) Best Sound Design - Nominated (2022) - La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival
My piano adventure was mostly through private study and RCM training. I learned about performance, theory, and harmony. I completed my RCM grade 9 before attending university to study music further. My study was also on my own time. I discovered that improvisation is my specialty, and I never liked being scripted. I self-taught myself, and have been doing it ever since my high school days. Which is why I am always am looking for ways to keep musical concepts creative and fresh. I have also written and released 2 albums with my bands, and toured across Canada and the UK as a touring keyboardist. I am also an orchestrator, producer and mixing engineer. All of these experiences have broadened my horizons and wisdoms as a teacher, bringing in different perspectives to the world of music.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
