Mishael, a voice teacher based in Montréal, offers personalized lessons in voice and additional musical skills such as ear training, solfege, and advanced music theory. Holding a Bachelor of Music from Juilliard and a Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati, he is also a seasoned performer with engagements at prestigious institutions like L'Opéra de Montréal and Houston Grand Opera. Lessons are available in English and French, offered online, in-studio, or in-home.
My teaching philosophy is always to meet them where they are at, and to always come from a place of curiosity. I always have the idea that the student already knows what they want out of their voice and I’m just their to guide them along.
I have a Bachelor of Music from the Juilliard School and a Master of Music from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, both in Vocal and Opera Performance. I have also done an artist residency at l'Opéra de Montréal. Some of my past and upcoming engagements as a singer include L'Opéra de Montréal, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Houston Grand Opera co., Banff Opera Centre, Tapestry Opera, Regina Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, L'orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières, L'orchestre de l'Agora, Brooklyn National Sawdust, Opera Theatre of St. Louis.
Semifinalist, Montreal Symphony Competition Finalist, American National Opera Association Competition Encouragement Award, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Prix Poulenc, Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques
Apart from my years of experience in teaching, I also studied Vocal Pedagogy during my my Graduate Studies in Opera where I really got to perfect my skills in teaching voice. I also have experience teaching classes from kindergarten up to high school in a school setting, so I really know how to work with all ages!
Mishael is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
